Keep you and your patients/clients safe: Seasonal Respiratory Pathogens Guide

Respiratory viruses such as COVID-19, influenza, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) are expected to become more prevalent from November through April.

As a regulated healthcare professional in Ontario, you should protect your health and the health of your patients/clients and colleagues. This includes staying informed about current guidance and best practices for preventing and managing the spread of seasonal respiratory illnesses. To support you in this role, the Ministry of Health has created a Seasonal Respiratory Pathogens Guide that provides

  • A clear overview of the annual planning cycle,
  • Expectations for health partners in outbreak and surge readiness,
  • Coordination strategies with non-health sector partners,
  • Response structures for managing critical surges,
  • Baseline and surge scenarios for planning, and
  • Tools and resources to support health system readiness.
