You can help build safer kinesiology practice: DVDRC Annual Report

COKO has received correspondence from the Office of the Chief Coroner regarding the Domestic Violence Death Review Committee (DVDRC) 2022–2023 Annual Report.

The DVDRC, supports the Coroner’s Office by reviewing deaths related to intimate partner violence and identifying trends, risk factors, and systemic gaps. Based on its findings, the DVDRC issues recommendations aimed at preventing future deaths and improving community and professional responses to intimate partner violence.

One of the Recommendations from the 2022–2023 Annual Report was that health regulatory colleges—including COKO—develop and distribute educational resources to support registrants in recognizing and responding to risks associated with intimate partner violence, including access to firearms.

In response to this Recommendation, we are developing educational materials and resources to support you in your practice.

We want to hear from you!

To ensure the resources we develop are practical, relevant, and responsive to your needs, we invite you to complete a brief survey. Your input is essential to helping us build meaningful and effective tools for the profession.

Thank you for your participation and your ongoing commitment to safe, ethical practice.
