If you want to work as a kinesiologist in Ontario, you must be registered with COKO. The title “kinesiologist” can only be used by individuals registered with COKO.
To become a registered kinesiologist, you must pass the College’s entry-to-practice exam. The exam is offered twice per year- once in the spring and once in the fall. You may write the exam at any time after graduation, but you cannot call yourself a kinesiologist until you have successfully passed the exam and paid your registration fee.
Step 1: Apply to write the exam
To begin the application process, select the category below that applies to you. If you are applying to re-write the exam, do not submit a new application. Email COKO and you will be provided with further instructions.
- I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology that is at least four years in length from an Ontario university
- I graduated with a bachelor’s degree similar to kinesiology (e.g. physical education, human kinetics) that is at least four years in length from an Ontario university
- I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology that is less than four years, or a degree similar to kinesiology, that is at least four years in length from another Canadian province
- I am internationally educated
Applicants with special needs may contact COKO via email or at (416) 961-7000 ext. 106 if they require assistance with completing their application.
Step 2: Write the exam
Once COKO has approved you to write the exam, you must take your first attempt at the exam within one year of becoming approved.
Step 3: Complete your registration
After passing the exam, you must complete your registration with COKO. This involves paying the registration fee and submitting required documentation. Learn more about completing your registration.
