Heather Westaway - Council President

Heather is a Registered Kinesiologist, currently practicing in Northern Ontario, with clinical experience in chronic disease management, geriatric rehabilitation, and end of life care.

She is proud to have been a registrant of the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario since its inception in 2013. She participated in the original development of college’s competency profile and entry-to-practice examination and has served as a peer practice assessor. She has been a member of Council since 2022, serving on each of the Executive, Registration, Quality Assurance, Patient Relations, Discipline, Planning and Finance, and Governance and Nomination Committees at various times through-out her term.

Heather holds a MSc. in Medical Education Leadership and worked in various leadership roles in both healthcare and academia settings. She brings a wealth of systems wide performance planning, integrated service delivery, and data-driven quality improvement expertise.

Heather is a strong advocate for protection of the public through the equitable and inclusive distribution of resources to properly address the unique social determinants of health in diverse Northern Ontario communities. She passionately promotes the delivery of safe, collaborative, interdisciplinary, client-centered care that leads to the demonstration of improved health outcomes.
